What this manual is
This is the employee manual for The Healing Haven SLC, the private therapy practice founded by Helen De-Lovely, LCSW in Salt Lake City, Utah. It applies to every employee: clinicians, the front office, the practice manager, and paid interns. Where a section applies only to some roles, it says so. It covers the rules and expectations of working here. It does not repeat the step-by-step procedures for running the practice. Those live in the SOP library, and this manual links to them where they apply. See The SOP library. What this manual is not
This manual is not a contract. Nothing in it creates a contract of employment, a promise of continued employment, or a guarantee of any particular benefit or procedure. Your employment is at will, which is explained plainly in At-will employment. This manual is not legal advice. It describes our policies and summarizes the laws that shape them. When a law and this manual disagree, the law wins, and we’ll fix the manual. This manual is not your offer letter. Your pay, schedule, and benefits are set in your offer letter. If the manual and your offer letter disagree on a specific number, your offer letter controls. If they disagree on a rule, ask the practice manager before assuming. Our right to change it
The practice can change, add to, or remove any policy in this manual at any time, with or without notice, except the at-will policy, which can only be changed in a written agreement signed by Helen De-Lovely. When a change matters to you, we’ll tell you directly, and the Changelog records what changed and when. How to read it
Every page has a short description at the top. Skim those first. Then read these pages in full before your first client session, in this order:- The three-color AI rule
- Devices, mobile, and texting
- Breach and incident reporting
- Client crisis and safety protocol
- Mandatory reporting
Callouts
You’ll see three kinds of callouts.Important. A rule with real consequences. Read it twice.
Why. The reason a rule exists. People follow rules they understand.
Not yet set. A policy that hasn’t been decided. It names who owns the decision and what it blocks. Every one of these is collected in Open items.
