# Final Pay

> When you receive your last paycheck. Utah's rule differs depending on who ended the employment.

Utah law (Utah Code § 34-28-5) sets two different deadlines for final pay, depending on how the employment ended.

## If the practice ends your employment

Your final wages are due immediately and must be paid **within 24 hours** of separation. The practice meets this by initiating direct deposit within 24 hours, or by hand delivery or mail postmarked within one day.

## If you resign

Your final wages are due on the **next regular payday**, paid the same way as usual.

## What's included

* All base wages earned through your last day
* Production bonus for completed sessions through your last day, calculated per the usual formula
* Expense reimbursements submitted and approved, including any CE reimbursement already submitted
* The benefits allowance, prorated through your last day

## Banked days and days on credit

The practice has no PTO bank, so there's nothing to pay out. Banked days are not wages and are not cashed out; use them before you go, by arrangement with the practice manager. Days you took on credit are settled by schedule in your final weeks, never by deduction from your final pay. See [Time off and the four-day week](/pay-and-time-off/time-off-and-the-four-day-week).

## What may be deducted

Only what the law allows and you've authorized in writing, or what a court orders. Unreturned practice property can't be deducted from wages without your written agreement; we'll ask you to return it instead. See [Return of property and client transition](/leaving/return-of-property-and-client-transition).

## Your pay statement

You'll receive a final pay statement through Gusto showing everything above. Review it. If something's missing, tell the practice manager and it will be corrected on the next available run.

## Tax forms

Your W-2 for the year is available in Gusto by January 31 of the following year. Keep your Gusto login information; you'll have access to your own documents after you leave.

## Bonus timing

The production bonus is calculated monthly from session counts. If the practice ends your employment, base wages are paid within 24 hours and the bonus for any unpaid weeks is paid as soon as the count is confirmed, on the same 24-hour timeline wherever the count is already final. If you resign, the final bonus is paid on the regular monthly schedule. If you have questions, ask the practice manager before your last day.
